Cross-stitch Purse

Cross Stitch purse
Sugar ‘n Cream cotton yarn–2 balls
3/4″ bone ring (or button of choice)
Size F hook

Row 1: Ch 37, sc in sc ch and in each ch across. Ch 3; turn.
Row 2: Skip 1st sc, (dc in next dc, dc in skipped sc) across, dc in last st. Ch 1; turn.
Row 3-5: Sc in each st across. At end of row 5 ch 3; turn.
Row 6: Repeat row 2. Ch 2; turn.
Row 7-54: Sc in ea st across. At end of row 54 ch 3.
Row 55: Repeat row 2.
Row 56-58: Sc in each st across. At end of row 58 ch 3; turn.
Row 59: Repeat row 2.
Row 60: Sc in each st across. Finish off.

FLAP
Row 1: Working in BLO this row only. Skipping first 5 sc, join with sl st in 6th st. Sc in next 25 st, leaving remaining 5 st unworked. Ch 1; turn. The unworked loops on this row will be the outside of purse.
Row 2: Sc dec over first 2 stitches, sc in each st across with sc dec in last 2 st. Ch 1; turn.
Row 3-10: Repeat row 2.
Row11: Sc dec over first 2 st, sc in next, ch 10 (for button loop), skip next sc, sc in next, sc dec over last 2 st. Finish off.
With right sides facing and matching stitches and rows, sew sides of purse together. Turn purse right side out.
Sew button to front of purse in line with button loop.
STRAP
Ch to desired length. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Continuing along opposite side of starting ch, sc in each ch across. Finish off. Sew strap to each side of purse at seam. Weave in all ends.
BUTTON
Join yarn to ring with a sl st.
RND 1: (wrong side) Ch 1, work sc in ring until it is completely covered; join with sl st to first sc, finish off leaving a long end for sewing.
Thread needle with long end and weave through outside lp of each sc around; pull to close center of ring and secure end.
With right sides together, whip stitch ends of straps together. Repeat straps on back of purse. Sew button on front of purse opposite button loop.
