Gold Amulet Bag

Materials:
Twilley’s Goldfingering
Hooks – size C and E
Stitches used: sl st, sc, dc, cross-stitch dc
Size: Approx. 2 3/4” wide and 3” tall (not including fringe)

Directions:
Using larger hook ch 17.

Row 1:  Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across; turn. (16 sc)
Row 2:  Ch 3 (counts as 1st dc now and throughout) (skip next sc, dc in next, dc in skipped sc) 7 times, dc in last sc. (7 cross-stitch dc)
Row 3: Ch 3, dc in each dc across. (16 dc)
Rows 4-9: Repeat row 3.
Rows 10-11: Ch 1, sc in each st across.
Rows 12-18: Ch 3, dc in each st across.
Row 19: Repeat row 2.
Row 20: Ch 1, sc in each dc across.
Row 21: Ch 3, working in BLO, dc in each sc across.
Row 22: Ch 3, working in BOTH loops, repeat row 2.
Row 23: Ch 3, cross-stitch dc in first 3 cross-stitch dc, ch 2, skip next cross-stitch (forms button hole), cross-stitch dc in next 3 cross-stitch dc, dc in last dc.
Row 24: Ch 1, sc in each dc and ch across.  Finish off.

Joining:
Holding wrong sides together (unused loops on row 21 are on the right side), matching rows 1 and 20 and working through both layers, join yarn with a sl st, ch 1 and sc evenly down side.  Fasten off and weave in ends.
Repeat on other side.

Strap:
Leaving a long end for sewing, ch 170 (or to desired length).  Finish off.
Join each end of strap to inside of bag at side seams, being careful not to twist chain.

Loopy fringe:
Using smaller hook, join yarn with a sl st into bottom corner at fold (through both layers) *ch 15, skip next st, sl st into next st.  Repeat from * across.  Finish off and weave in ends.

Sew button to front between rows 3 and 4.
