Well, that’s weird

I recently downloaded the app and after logging in my blog doesn’t show any posts past 2013.  I  thought the app would help me to post more regularly, but it’s definitely not as user friendly as the actual desktop version.  No worries, I can type better on my laptop than on my iPhone any day. 🙂

And now for the afghan I made for hubby as a birthday/Valentine’s Day gift.  He was born February 12, so yes, I combined it into one gift.  Kind of like a big love letter, only this one will keep him warm.

Next up is my adorable grandson Emilio posing on the afghan his favorite grandma (yes, that’s me!!) made for him.

Elmoblankie

Believe it or not, Elmo is now just over a year old and I am working on a 2nd afghan in the same pattern for my newest granddaughter Bridgette Danger.  And yes, before you ask, her middle name REALLY IS Danger!  How many people do you know than can say “Danger is my middle name” and really mean it?  My son and his wife both have a great sense of humor.  I love that!  Her nursery is decorated in…wait for it…..Viking Princess!  How amazing is that?  I mean complete with the authentic looking wood shield and everything.  No cookie cutter stuff for my son, that’s for sure!

Of course, I will be posting a photo of the newest afghan very soon.  It’s almost done, just want to crochet 2 more rows on the border.  The photo will be minus the baby until the afghan arrives at its destination – Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

Should you be interested in the patterns for either afghan, you can find the ABC Bobble (free pattern) here and the Forever afghan (paid pattern) here

2 Years…are you kidding me?!

Wait, what?  You say it’s been 2 years since I posted a blog?  You’re kidding, right?  RIGHT?!  I must be getting older, because the time slipped by too quickly.   Well, I have to confess that I’m no spring chicken.  My license says I was born 53 years ago,  but I still think I’m too young to talk about being old.

Anyway, faithful reader (who am I kidding?  I wouldn’t have stuck around if I were a follower of a quiet blog like this one) I am here and I have been a busy girl.  I have been knitting, crocheting, stitching, and embroidering many things and have been quite content in doing so.  Today I have no pictures to share but I did want to pop in and shake things up a bit by actually posting.

Perhaps I will even reload the WordPress app on my phone and I can share photos in a more timely manner, since I usually take said photos with my phone.

Okay world,  I have made my appearance again, and I solemnly swear not to let another 2 years go by before coming back.  If I don’t use this blog, then I might as well delete it.  Frankly, I don’t want to do that.  Until next time…

A year of changes

It has been a very busy year for us.  After 2 1/2 years of renting out our house (with the possibility of the renter buying it), we decided we couldn’t part with it and have moved back.  Needless to say, renters don’t always treat the property very well and there has been a LOT of work to do.  Don’t get me started about how I discovered that her teenage son had nearly burned the house down and how they tried to hide the scorched bedroom door.

I did find the time to work on this year’s Christmas gifts for the family.

There are other projects that I am currently working on.  Hard to believe that there is LESS THAN 2 MONTHS until Christmas!  I had to ground myself and put my personal projects away so that I can concentrate on finishing the gifts.  Most of the grandkids are getting a book with a character (or characters that I make).   I got the idea here: Children’s Lit ‘n Knit as well as over at Ravelry.

The Malya Cowl was knit with yarn that was left over from the Minimalist Cardigan, which was a great way to reduce some stash!

Round 2 of Weight Loss

Life sure has a way of slipping by without your realizing how quickly it has passed.  I’ve slacked off on my exercise routine and before I knew it, I stopped working out altogether and gained 14 pounds!

I’ve been making an effort to walk daily, and have become involved with Spark People again.  I’m going to ask Santa for a new treadmill for Christmas, even though he recently expressed his opinion of them as being space hogs.  With winter coming and the hours I work, it’s dark when I’m able to get out for a walk.

In knitting/crocheting news, I have been busy working on afghan squares.  I’ve completed 2 swaps recently and will soon complete the 3rd.  2 of the afghans created through the swaps are intended as gifts.  I hope to have pics to post soon.  I’ve finished a knit pullover hoodie, just have to sew the casing for the drawstring and it will be completely finished.  I also have a crochet sweater pretty much complete with the exception of the button band.  Again, I hope to have pics to post soon.
